Honda Accord Valve Cover Gasket Installation Procedures

The valve gasket, or extra accurately the valve cover gasket, is a standard source of oil leakage on the Honda Accord. When the valve cowl leaks, the oil runoff can soak the whole engine with oil, generally making it tough to diagnose a couple of engine oil leak. Substitute the valve cover gasket to assist quickly spot different leaks to stop severe engine damage in your Accord. Don’t over-tighten the valve cowl throughout reassembly. It is made from aluminum, which could be very brittle and can crack easily.
1.Open the hood of the Honda Accord.
2. Take away the spark plug wire cover within the valve cover. Use the ratchet to drag out the 4 10 mm bolts holding it in place.
3. Use a spark plug wire puller to pull the spark plug wires out from the plugs. Tug at the base of the wire to keep away from damaging it.
4. Loosen the 10 mm bolts around the perimeter of the valve cover, utilizing a ratchet.
5. Pull the valve cover off the cylinder head.
6. Take away the previous valve cover gasket from the valve cover, and rub the cylinder head surface with wonderful sandpaper so that the new gasket has a clear floor to adhere to.
7. Place the new gasket on the valve cover.
8. Place the valve cover onto the cylinder head, and tighten the valve cover bolts to about 15 foot-lbs. with a torque wrench.
9. Reinstall the spark plug wires, and place the spark plug wire cover again onto the valve cover. Tighten the cover with a ratchet.
